What is free and what needs a plan
Mote for iOS is free to download, and the Writer is free to use. The rest of the app is part of the paid Unlimited plan.

What you see on the free plan
Anything on the paid plan carries a small lock. Opening it brings up a short screen explaining which plan the feature belongs to, with a button through to upgrade. This applies to content shared in from other apps too.
Upgrading
Plans are not currently sold inside the app, so the upgrade button opens mote.com in your browser. If you already have an Unlimited or Education plan, whether personal or through your school, it applies here as soon as you sign in. A plan change appears in the app without needing to sign out and back in.
