What are teacher controls?

Teacher controls allow you to enable or disable sidebar features for classes and individual students. Setting up a class is the first step to doing this. Learn how you can do that here.

How do I enable or disable features for my students?

1. Navigate to your class and click 'manage' next to the name of the student you want to enable/disable features for

2. Enable/disable the features by clicking on the toggle

3. If you want to make these changes for the entire class, click "Apply these settings to all members in the class". Then confirm settings

Can I control features for other teachers in my class?

No, you can only make changes for users who sign up as students.

Do my students need an unlimited account for teacher controls to work?

Yes, students will need an unlimited account for full access to features.

Can I turn features off just for a test?

Teacher controls set a student's feature access until you change it again. To pause features only for the length of an assessment, use Assessment Mode on the class page. You choose the duration, from 30 minutes up to the end of the school day, choose which features stay available, and keep Mote available for any students whose IEP requires it. Features resume automatically when the time is up, or you can end it early.
