How do I change the microphone used by Mote?
We try to keep things simple here at Mote, and we use the microphone that your computer uses by default.
If this default setting isn't working for you, here's the steps you can take, based on your machine:
Windows (Windows 10)
You can easily select your default microphone in Settings. First, open “Settings” by clicking the “Start” menu and selecting the gear icon on the left. You can also press Windows+i to quickly open it.
Alternatively, you can also right-click the speaker icon in the system tray at the right side of your taskbar and select “Open Sound Settings.” Windows will open the “Sound Settings” screen.
In the “Settings” window, click “System.”
On the “System” screen, click “Sound” from the sidebar menu.
Scroll down to the “Input” section on the “Sound” screen. In the drop-down menu labeled “Choose your input device,” select the microphone you’d like to use as your default device.
Apple Mac
-
-
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Sound , then click Input.
Note: The options that appear depend on your Mac model and the audio devices plugged into your Mac.
-
Select the device you want to use in the list of sound input devices.
All sound input devices available to your Mac are listed. If your display has an internal microphone, it’s listed as “Display Audio”.
-
Do any of the following to adjust your sound input settings:
-
Adjust the input volume: Drag the volume slider.
-
If you’re recording sound through your computer’s sound port, you can adjust the input volume to compensate for the sound source being too loud or quiet. For example, if you’re recording loud music, lower the input volume so the recorded sound isn’t too loud or distorted. If you are recording someone who is speaking softly, increase the input volume so your Mac can better capture the person’s voice.
