Changes to Mote's Free Tier

To ensure that Mote can sustain the investment needed to meet the needs of our growing community, we have made the tough decision to limit our Free tier usage to 20 voice messages per month, from January 2022.

Changes to Mote's Essential Tier

Back in August 2021, we stopped offering the Essential tier for sale to new subscribers. We made this change in order to simplify our product offering and focus on making a single, high quality premium tier of service - Unlimited. 

We are now taking steps to remove the Essential tier completely.  As of December 2 2021, individual Essential subscribers are upgraded to Unlimited, for free, until the time of their subscription renewal. At that time they will have the option to subscribing to Mote's Unlimited tier, or canceling their subscription. Essential subscribers can cancel at any time between now and their renewal date by visiting their Account page.

Q: Why is Mote introducing a usage cap on the Free Tier?

A: As we all adjust to the changing education environment, we want to balance the needs of our community whilst learning, listening and developing new features to better serve you and your learners. 

Q: How do I upgrade to Mote's Unlimited tier?

A: Visit mote.com/pricing to make an online purchase, and explore a team/department or School-wide subscription.

Q: What do I do if I need more than 20 motes, but I can't pay right now?

A: Our referral scheme is a great way to keep access to Mote Unlimited. You'll receive a month of extra Mote Unlimited trial access for every person who signs up to Mote using your referral code.  And your friend will also receive an extra 30 days on their free trial.

Q: Why is Mote removing the Essential tier? 

A: To simplify our product offering and focus on making a single, high quality premium tier of service - Unlimited. 

Q: Will students still be able to use Mote's Free tier? 

A: Yes. Students will continue to have access to the Free tier, and will also be subject to the 20-mote limit. Our Schools pricing makes upgrading all students and teachers to Unlimited very affordable - learn more here.

Q: Will I be able to use my 20 motes within any Mote integration? 

A: Yes. You will be able to use all of Mote's integrations.

Q: Will any un-used free motes roll-over from month to month?

A: No, there's no roll-over.

Q: Will there still be a 30-second recording limit for Free tier users?

A: Yes. 

Q: What happens to my recordings if I downgrade to the Free tier? 

A: Your existing recordings will not be affected. We delete content from inactive users after 1 year, and all minors' content after 1 year.
