Where is mote content stored? Who can access it?
All mote content is stored in AWS public cloud, based in Oregon USA.
Every URL is randomly generated and is not publicly discoverable unless you share it.
We store all mote content in this way because we don't want your students or team mates to have to jump through too many hoops to access your voice notes.
By default your motes are public to anyone to hear. However, if you are part of a group account you are able to restrict access to your motes, so that only logged in users within your organization can access them.
When you go to the 'Share' screen in the Mote extension or website, you will see the option to manage Access to the mote.
By default this is set to 'Everyone', however by clicking 'Everyone' you will have the option to restrict access. All users can set Visibility to 'Private', and members of Mote group accounts will also see the option to restrict to 'School only'. Please note however that 'School only' will require users to be logged in to access your motes, which may not always be convenient or desirable.
