How can I embed audio and voice within Google Docs?
Adding Audio and Voice to Google Docs with Mote
There are two ways to add audio and voice to Google Docs using Mote:
1. Voice Comments
Leave voice feedback directly in Google Docs comments:
- Highlight text or click where you want to add a comment
- Look for the Mote icon in the comment box
- Click to start recording your voice note
- Click again to stop — your voice comment will be embedded in the comment
Students with Mote installed can play, translate, and respond to your voice feedback.
2. Embedding Audio in the Document
You can embed a shareable Mote audio link directly into the body of a Google Doc:
- Click the Mote extension to open the Sidebar
- Switch to Creating Mode
- Record a voice note (or use Text to Audio, Audio Upload, or Dictate & Translate)
- Click Share
- Copy the link and paste it into your Google Doc
Anyone with the link can listen to the audio. Recipients with the Mote extension installed will see an interactive Mote card with playback, transcription, and translation options.
